As the Recipes and the stories attached to them are revealed, they unearth a wealth of industrial and social traditions from local culture. We discover why these recipes developed, the origins of the ingredients, and unearth forgotten traditions.

In a nutshell National Treasures is a mult-platform TV project exploring the social history of a nation by uncovering the fascinating objects in the hands of its citizens at a series of roadshow events. Driven by a web-platform, audience participation and user data, this inclusive television format brings audiences to the fore to explore their stories, their objects and their history. In each episode of the series, a team of curators must select objects for an upcoming exhibition, not based on the monetary value but rather the historical/cultural value that they hold. The series was broadcast in a primetime Sunday evening slot on the national broadcasters flagship channel, starting off with a 20% share in week one and finishing with a 25% share in week four. The last episode finished up at the start of May.
