Produced and aired in 2008. The series offers a new take on the traditional lawenforcementled crime drama. The drama is driven forward by the fast paced happenings at a tabloid newspaper where people’s reputations are built and ruined in the space of a carefully placed headline. An over-arching storyline concerning a missing person where foul play might be at play interweaves individual story lines presented in each episode.

Lára, a single mother in her thirties, is hired as a reporter on a tabloid newspaper at the same time that prominent business man Máni goes missing. The case intrigues Lára and her investigation into Mani’s disappearance provides an overarching storyline that unfolds throughout the series.

Each 45 minute episode however provides individual story lines and cases solved by the end of the show. One episode, for example, deals with the apparent suicide of a man the tabloid writes a damaging story about. The power of the yellow press in making and breaking reputations is questioned after a public outcry blaming the newspaper for driving the man to taking his own life.

The show focuses on presenting a modern Icelandic reality with credible story lines and personal narratives. Shot on handheld cameras, the series exudes a sense of intimacy, inviting the viewer to be part of the world that has been created to tell a compelling story. The show has been developed to be a returnable series and a second installment is currently in development and scheduled to air in 2011.

The series is created by Óskar Jónasson and Sigurjón Kjartansson. The former an award winning director and the latter the most prolific and popular writer and developer of TV series in Iceland.
