The History of Water is a series on the relationship between man and fresh water. It affords a comprehensive and absorbing insight into man's relationship with water from the point of view of history, economics, politics and religion.

A Journey in the History of Water, written and presented by Professor Terje Tvedt, is the most comprehensive series on the history of the relationship between man and fresh water that ever has been made. It is filmed in more than 25 countries. It tells the story of water in societies from the development of the first civilizations along world-famous rivers in Asia and the Middle East to the modern societies in the Americas and Europe today. It also shows the immense and fundamental role of water in world religions and how struggle for power over water has formed our societies. It affords an absorbing insight into how past economic, political and religious relationships with water has formed the world of today.
