THE BIGGEST THING THAT HAPPENED TO THE TALK SHOW GENRE IN DECADES

Original title: VOTE about me?

Is a live interactive television talkshow, where four stars get very personal questions from the host with two alternative answers, but before they decide which is more likely to be true, the viewers tell their opinion by answering first via a mobile application. This way we not only confront the guests with the judgement of the country about them, but this way we start a real conversation on their own and each other’s personality.

’VOTE ABOUT ME?’ is a deep and entertaining interactive talkshow. The basic idea behind it is changing the method of the questioning/interview technique, pushing forward the limit of honesty and real talk, bringing true human moments to the screen and try to avoid the pre-prepared answers what stars usually use when asked about themselves in interviews or even in their private conversations.

To make opening up more comfortable or natural for the stars, four of them are packed together in an episode. All of them get through 3 questions by the end of the show, so there are 12 questions altogether in a 48 minute long episode.

Most of the questions are based on personality tests, which are prepared, carefully selected, but transformed and adjusted if needed.

To keep the ease of the show and even bring some laughter to the conversation there are also fun questions mixed between the hard ones. These questions must be always precisely formulated and there are always only two answers to choose from. This sometimes will make the guests complain, but that is only because they want to steer clear from revealing themselves.

It is also very important to observe the dynamics between the guests – who wants to help out who –, and why is somebody stands to someone’s side. The host is physically not able to fulfill this position alone, you have to have someone in the control booth overseeing all the close-ups, observing reactions.

Every question applies to the specific guest and must be answered by everyone: the viewers at home / the audience in the studio, the guest who the question was addressed to and the other three guests also but not the host. They all use our application and they have 10 seconds to ’vote’, which they are warned by tense music.

In the control booth and at the host’s screen the results are shown in details: viewers’ judgement, the other three guests answers by name and the guest who the question is on, of course.

And after that the host explains the result: ’People think that you are...’ – so this means that for the first time in the history of television a star is facing what thousands or millions of people think about him/her in that very moment!

THIS IS REALITY!

In the live-on-tape version of the format the studio audience provides the viewers’ answer.

This is the first time in the history of television that a famous person gets to know what people really think of her/him. Not only a comment on Facebook, not a fan or hate letter – the opinion of a massive crowd.

We can call this the starting point, because the most interesting and valuable part of the show begins here. Let’s say the question was just the setup, and now the statement is

thrown out to the middle of the table. So now it’s on the subject to react. Is it the same way as he/she thinks or believes? Either they correct or confirm the judgement, they are now speaking about themselves and it comes clear that what is their own self-image, which is not necessarily fully in line with the majority’s perception.

THAT IS STRONG.

Here we need the host to be empathic to ask clever and extract the topic in the right way – following the plan made up in advance.

Because sometimes the most important statement or thoughts come not from the question, we use that only as a lead-in for the real hard and originally intended questions to ask.

And still from here we can raise the bar, because slowly all the others at the table are made to join in the conversation as the host reveals their judgement or we could say ’betrays’ them to the subject. What makes you think like this?

At this point four stars are put into a conversation with each other, without almost any moderation from the host. We’re having some very valuable minutes on television: stars asking, judging each other, sometimes trying to overcome the others while revealing their views, or sometimes just having a good laugh.

The show is live with an audience at least 200 people in the studio. This makes the show easy and light but does not shut out the chance of forming dramatic moments. And also guarantees that these dramatic moments cannot dominate or get too long.
