In a Norwegian fjord ten Americans are doing what no one has ever done before. They dive and work at a depth of 320 meters (1065 feet). The divers have to succeed to secure the future of an oil-nation. But something goes terribly wrong.

It was the most spectacular dive ever. It would make Norway incredible rich. Afterwards it was deemed a huge success. But how was that possible when one diver died, one was injured and one barely survived? The purpose of the divers was to prove that pipelines could be laid and repaired in the Norwegian trench. This deep, underwater gorge, along the coast of Norway, had so far stopped Norway from bringing oil and gas to the mainland. The divers had to succeed to secure the future of an oil-nation. But something went terribly wrong.

This documentary reveals step by step how the investigation of a death was twisted, manipulated and altered to make the dive a success. It tells the story of the people that had to live with the consequences, and the diver that was wrongly blamed. 37 years later, the Americans tell what really happened in the world record dive.

The documentary disclose that the dive was vital not only for Norway, but for the whole of the West in the midst of the cold war. It sounds like a crime fiction, but it is the true story of how Norway got oil and gas ashore.
