The documentary “The Norseman Mind” is about the world's toughest Ironman triathlon. It shows the spectacular course and the tough physical challenges along the way. But actually, it tries to understand what makes modern humans undertake horribly difficult and seemingly meaningless contests.

In the film we follow one of the participants, Christian Wulff, and via a portable and waterproof camera, we see what he sees. To the camera he explains how he's doing along the way, and he also tries to get to the bottom of why he does this. Is it lack of physical challenges of everyday life, it is the urge to impress people, or is it a mid-life crisis?

Wulff has 20 years interviewing experience as a journalist, but this time he is putting himself on the spot, demanding honest answers. The film also trying to say something sensible about a society that has become so organized and automated, that citizens make up artificial difficulties.
