Two Norwegian comedians in a 40-year-old fire engine take part in a charity race, the Mongol Rally. But will they manage to complete the long trip from Norway to Mongolia?

There are just three rules in the Mongol Rally: only vehicles with an engine displacement no greater than 1200 cc are allowed to enter; those taking part do so at their own risk and bear sole responsibility for reaching their goal, Mongolia's capital city, Ulan Bator; and each team has to raise £1000 for charity.

Adventures aplenty lie ahead when comics Øystein Bache and Rune Gokstad set off on their gruelling journey. Together they have to travel halfway across the globe. On reaching their goal their outmoded fire engine will be overhauled and returned to service in Mongolia.

This is a travel documentary with a difference. A journey of 19,000 kilometres through 16 different countries presents untold challenges and involves the two in all kinds of unforeseen situations, among them engine trouble, language difficulties and tummy upsets. But the biggest challenge is that imposed on their longstanding friendship.
