See the art project Planet Lofoten, an installation of the solar system on a scale of 1:200 million.

A World Champion windsurfer in the 1980s, Jan Wanggaard left the sport at the peak of his career to study industrial design. He subsequently moved to the Lofoten Islands in the north of Norway, where he has lived since 1989. The film follows Wanggaard over a period of three years, from conception to implementation of the art project Planet Lofoten – an installation, in the heart of western Lofoten, of the solar system on a scale of 1:200 million.

The western islands are noted for their sensational scenery and unpredictable weather. The planets have been set up in commanding positions in the mountains and on the coast, in a part of Norway that has been adjudged worthy of inclusion in Unesco's World Heritage List on account of its magnificence and scenic beauty. Film cameraman and director Lars Nilssen has captured the essence of the setting in a distinctive and highly expressionistic manner throughout the changing seasons of the year.

The film was awarded one of the three main prizes (Award for Creativity) at the Montréal 25th International Festival of Films on Art.
