Tille was born on September 22nd 2005, and died on April 16th 2006. At birth, he seemed like any other baby. Neither his parents not his doctors knew he was suffering from a very rare genetic disorder called Epidermolysis Bullosa, or EB.

This documentary follows Tille and his parents as they discover his illness, and then wait for his inevitable fate. All of Sweden followed Tille’s short life, as his parents’ internet diary described his decline in words and pictures. The press also followed the drama closely, and public mourning followed Tille’s death at Easter-time in 2006. After the first symptoms started appearing, Tille and his parents spent their time travelling to and from the hospital. It took the doctors three months to come up with a diagnosis, which was finally defined as Herlitz, the most virulent form of EB. After the diagnosis, the fear of the unknown gave way to the stark reality of Tille’s imminent death. Therese and Niklas, Tille’s parents, decided not to try and prolong Tille’s life, but instead to stay at home and live as normally as possible. They received thousands of emails and phone calls of support for this decision. Many, however, reacted angrily to what they saw as passive acceptance of their baby’s death. Peter Gaczynski made this heart-breaking story about a little baby’s short life, his parents who were brave enough to share their grief with everyone, and the doctors and researchers fighting a fatal disease. The profit from the sales of the programme will be donated to research on Epidermolysis Bullosa. ”Tille`s Death” 1 x 43 min Documentary Language: Swedish Produced by Peter Gaszynski , TV4, Sweden
